Gay bishops may further divide Episcopal Church

Just to be clear here, the wrongness is in the Bible being used to hurt people, not in the reforming of the Church. I think it’s wonderful the Episcopalians have made so much progress, but it’s disappointing that some in the Church want to split it in half so they can continue to oppress gay people despite the reforms.

Roughly six years after the consecration of a gay bishop triggered divisions in the Episcopal Church, clergy and lay leaders have recently voted to accept other gay or lesbian bishops and also to develop rites for same-sex marriages… “We wouldn’t have been quite so forceful and quite so pained if people hadn’t misused the Bible to beat us into second-class citizenship,” [Thomas Jackson, president of Oasis California, an LGBT ministry sponsored by the Bay Area-based Episcopal Diocese of California] said.
